Why should I send my child to prechool?

Most educators and psychologists today agree that the single most important period in the development of a person's intelligence occurs between birth and age five. A child's mind is extremely absorbent and his/her curiosity is at a peak during these early years. When properly nourished and stimulated, the child's mind forms patterns for learning that serve her/him well throughout his life. The Montessori system of preschool education has proven to be one of the most effective and fastest growing methods to guide a child through these critical years.

How will I know what is happening during my child's day?

You are always welcome to visit or call during the day, and when you pick up your child, you will receive a Daily Activity Report. Your child's teacher will note how long she napped, what portion of her lunch he or she ate. Her teacher will also describe all of the fun activities that your son or daughter did, and there will always be a little note from teacher to parent regarding a special moment of her day.

May I visit my child during his/her day?

Absolutely! Feel free to join him at lunchtime, playtime, anytime!

Why is it so important to have a School Administrator and/or an Education Director on-site?

The Education Director and/or School Administrator who are responsable for the programs and curriculum that we implement are always present on site. They observe the classrooms, making sure that the program and curriculum is followed, and develop a healthy learning center envirorment for your child

How flexible are Kaptan Preschool programs?

You may choose the schedule that works best for your child. Children can come to Kaptan Preschool for either a half-day or a full-day, or as few as two or as many as five days a week,

What if my child doesn’t speak English for the Preschool?

We have experienced that with children when they first came to us. Communication with Pre-School children, even those speaking english, is often done in a nonverbal manner. Children show us by their faces, hands, and other nonverbal clues what they want and need. Our teachers are very sensitive to this type of communication. Children quickly learn English by listening to other children and by the teaching, modeling and care from their teachers.

How will I know that my child is safe while I am at work?

We are committed to the safety and security of the children in our school. We implement a security system based on observation and procedures. Alternate caregivers, authorized by children's parents, must present identification when taking over the child any time during the day from the school. In addition, there are policies and procedures and guidelines regarding health, security, program and curriculum that we implement in our school.

What about the meals?

According to the parents chosen program, children will have either breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks.

Do children have to be toilet trained to enroll at Kaptan Preschool?

Children do not have to be toilet trained to be enrolled in the preschool. We know that it is developmentally appropriate for children to learn toilet training at different ages, not necessarily by two and a half years of age. Our teachers support parents during the child’s period of toilet training. Therefore, children may attend the program while still in diapers and/or pull-ups.

How is toilet training handled?

It has been our experience that children train easily when they are developmentally ready. They also model themselves after other children who are toilet trained. Toilet training is handled in a natural, positive manner taking the lead from the child. Children are checked regularly and encouraged if they appear to be needing the toilet.

Will my child be challenged academically at Kaptan Preschool? I want to know that he/she is prepared for elementary school.

Yes. At Kaptan Preschool, we think the best academic preparation is to encourage your child's enthusiasm for learning. Teachers who have a keen interest in your child's success, create lesson plans based on early childhood devlopment guidelines and monthly themes by providing individual attention in a small group setting, Our teachers nurture each child's confidence. Learning to ask questions, discovering cause and effect, negotiating fair play and making new friends are all academic building blocks at Kaptan Preschool.

How do kaptan Preschool teachers prepare for the classroom setting?

Our teachers are warm and nurturing, with a combination of formal education and experience. All our class teachers are selected for their ability to engage children warmly in the learning process through the use of effective lesson plans and curriculum during their education process.

Do children go outside every day?

Kaptan Preschool playgrounds are considered an extension of the classroom. In addition to running, jumping and climbing, our teachers and administrators plan nature walks, picnics and other learning opportunities. Weather permitting, children play outside every day!

What security measures are taken when releasing children?

In Kaptan Preschool, with a parent or guardian's permission only, children may be released to an alternate caregiver who presents an identification (must be a picture ID).
